Adopt Permai

Meet Permai

Permai is an expressive elephant, who wears her ‘heart on her sleeve’ and will show her keepers how she is feeling.

An emotive elephant, she has taken time to adapt to her new surroundings and feel comfortable to interact with the other elephants. She has built a beautiful bond with Tang Mo, with the two cows now relying on and supporting each other. They are becoming incredibly vocal together, and you can often hear them "chatting" back and forth.

The team

Monarto Safari Park’s dedicated Elephant Team provides round-the-clock, specialised care to ensure every member of the herd thrives physically, mentally, and emotionally.

By taking their lead from the elephants, our keepers allow trust to build naturally, remaining flexible as herd dynamics evolve.

Through tailored nutrition plans, daily health checks, and engaging enrichment, elephant welfare is at the core of everything they do.
Working within the elephant's expansive 12-hectare precinct which features interconnected habitats, allows the team to give the elephants freedom of choice, supporting natural behaviours like foraging, swimming, dust bathing, and socialising.
